How To Open A Game With Cheat Engine

In this Cheat Engine tutorial, we will learn how to open .ct file in Cheat Engine.
If you ever open Cheat Engine official forum, you will see that most of the cheats come in .ct format. CT, or Cheat Table, is file format that can be opened in Cheat Engine. If you are beginner user, you probably try to find and edit all values whenever you start new game [Cheat Engine basic tutorial]. Wouldn’t be easier if we could save all the values, so we don’t need to find it every time when we start a new game?
That is why .CT files are used.
If you are beginner user, you will probably just download file that others made, and open it. So let’s learn how to do that.

How to Cheat in Any Game Using Cheat Engine First, make sure that Cheat Engine and your game are running on your computer, then click the little PC icon in Cheat Engine to choose the game process. In the Cheat Engine, click on ‘Edit’ Navigate to the left sidebar and tap ‘Scan Settings’ Check the box next to the option; ‘MEMMAPPED: Memory that is mapped into the view of a section. E.g: File mapping, emulator memory, slow’. This enables the Cheat Engine to scan Bluestack. Run Cheat Engine as an administrator. Cheat Engine has an icon with a blue 'E'. Log into an account with administrative privileges on your computer. Double-click the Cheat Engine icon in the Applications folder on Mac. On Windows, right-click the Cheat Engine icon in the Windows Start menu, then click Run as an Administrator.

Open .CT file in Cheat Engine

  • If you haven’t done it already, download and install Cheat Engine from their official site [Download Cheat Engine 6.7].
  • After you have started Cheat Engine, choose the right process. For this tutorial, we will use The Witcher Enhanced Edition game and .ct file for that version of the game.
    To find the correct version of the game, right click on game executable (.exe file). Note that you need to right click on executable, and not on shortcut.
    Click on the Details tab, and find Product version.
  • Download .ct file for this version of the game. Start the game, click on the Process button, and open process from the game.
  • Click on Open button, and select .ct file that you want to open. If you have done everything correctly, in the lower part of the Cheat Engine window, you should see something like this.

What now?

In most cases, you will see the values that you can change or freeze (In our example, you could easily change Talents or Orens). In other cases (mostly FPS games), instead of value there will be <script> type (no reload, teleport, or fly-mode). Just click on the box on the left side of this window – box has to be marked with X. And that’s it. If the .ct file don’t work, or some values are incorrect, you probably don’t have right version of cheat tables. Go to step 1 of this tutorial and check again.
